BARGING

Equipment and expertise for the rivers

Summer barging can be the best way to supply remote locations along the Liard and Mackenzie Rivers with groceries, household goods and building materials. Some clients move equipment on our barges at the end of summer, so it’s ready for work on freeze-up.

There are virtually no size or weight limits on what we can barge for you. Cooper has even hauled massive oil well modules weighing 150,000 lbs. and measuring 24′ high by 17′ wide by 60′ long.

Cooper Barging Services crews know every bend and every shallow in these rivers, and we take pride in moving your freight safely and reliably.

Our fleet has:

  • Three shallow-draft tugs from 800 hp to 2200 hp
  • Nine deck-cargo barges up to 165′ long and 45′ wide
  • Major landing/storage yard at Fort Simpson.

On the Mackenzie River, we schedule at least five voyages a season serving Fort Simpson, Tulita, Norman Wells and points beyond. We also run charter services on the Liard River.

The barging season here normally runs from June 1 to Oct. 20.
